(Camera is a must for joining this walk) \nWhat is this all about?\nModern Sadras was established as part of Dutch Coromandel in the seventeenth century\, which was even before center for weaving superfine muslin cloth for export besides Pearl and edible oil.[2] The magnificent Sadras Fort\, built for commercial purposes by the Dutch\, is a vast compound enclosing a huge granary\, stable and structures used to mount elephants; unfortunately only one of these structures survives. The fortress was raided by the British in 1818[3] and came under the control of the British East India Company. It is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India in efforts to contain further dilapidation of this great monument. From 2003 major restoration of the damaged fort was carried out leading to may archeological findings.[4] The first battle between British East India Company and the Dutch started here as Battle of Sadras. The fort includes a cemetery with many beautifully decorated graves that date to between 1620 and 1769. \n \nWhat is the duration of this photowalk?\nWe will be assembling at 4:30 a.m. The final itinerary will be shared with the confirmed participants. \nWhat Should we bring?\nA Camera (DSLR or Point and shoot)\nWear good walking shoes\nCarry a backpack which would fit the 1 litre water bottle and your camera equipments.\nSnacks if required. \nHow much would it cost for the entire walk?\nAll Expenses (Fuel and breakfast) will be shared among the participants. Lets join hands in the mission #CleanSrinivasapuram and make our pleas to keep the backwaters\, the river and the bay (all bordering Srinivasapuram) free from garbage. \nAs of now\, a total of 700+ families have been given 2bin1bag solid waste segregation kits at Srinivasapuram including the 500 free kits given by another charity organisation recently to the more economically backward beach side dwellers. The 200 odd kits we sold to the slum board apartment dwellers to make them segregate and our continuous cleanups and awareness work inspired the charity to join hands with us. \nWe have taken up the task of conducting awareness sessions in the mornings aimed at improving segregation of waste by 200 families who got kits from us and also the new 500 families. We shall also be announcing weekly lucky rewards for those who segregate well regularly. So\, apart from the river side cleanup\, we shall also be joining the tricycle based door collection of waste by our workers from the 700 homes in the area. \n#CleanSrinivasapuram #ZeroKuppaiSrinivasapuram. \nWelcome you all to join hands and make this a success!!
