Srinivasapuram Zero-Waste community cleanup drive
August 4 @ 6:00 am - 7:30 am
An event every week that begins at 6:00am on Friday, repeating until December 31, 2017
On the banks of the Adyar Poonga tucked between the Seashore, the Adyar river and MRC Nagar there is a beautiful fishermen’s island community Srinivasapuram. Surrounded by water on all sides and looking out over the beautiful lush green Theosophical Society and a beautiful shoreline the hamlet is 6000 homes / 20.000 members strong. Cleanliness among the residents is notably high (compared to other communities we worked in)
Lack of proper waste disposal, awareness on garbage reduction through segregation, importance of trees, composting, seasonal garbage inflow through Adyar river have left the community surrounded with garbage. Similar to our last years success story of nearby zero-waste Nochikuppam we plan to engage long term with this beautiful hamlet through volunteers, talking to residents, educating on waste management, cleaning up the community, working with corporation, distributing segregation bins, assist in composting & recycling, planting trees to make this little hamlet a green island on Chennai’s shoreline.
Calling out to volunteers who are interested to join us every Friday morning to realize mission #CleanSrinivasapuram.
