CTC Ainthinai – ReGreen Chennai – Tree Plantation YMCA Nandanam Sept 3rd 2017

About CTC – Ainthinai:
Chennai Trekking Club was started in 2008 with a motto to introduce outdoor living and adventurous lifestyle for the people of Chennai. CTC gradually expanded as South India’s largest volunteering organisation also focusing on biking, photography, swimming , cycling and running through various events.
Ainthinai the Green wing of CTC was set up in 2012 with a centralized aim on creating a sustainable environment for the future. Nature conservation events like tree plantations and maintenance, clean ups at water bodies, organic and terrace farming, workshops on waste management and plastic free lifestyle form an integral part of Ainthinai.
We are a team of like minded CTCians who believe that we do not inherit this earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children !!!
We don’t see oxygen parlours as viable alternatives for our trees.
We believe that conservation is not someone else’s responsibility and we understand that participation of society is necessary for anything that results in something that’s good !!!
ReGreen Chennai – 2017
ReGreen Chennai was launched on the first week July on an intense mission to  restore the depleting Green Cover of Chennai  in a multi phased systematic process. Initiated by Earth Smiles Trust, The ReGreen mission is collaborated with more than 20 Organisations.
The main objective of the mission is to plant one lakh well grown saplings, not less than 4.5 feet size, before the monsoon this year. However, THE REGREEN CHENNAI project will inspire, encourage, facilitate and support like-minded NGO groups and individuals to plant as many number as possible to reach a target of five lakh over a period of five years. Only in locations where small dense forest making is possible we will use small saplings and seed balls. We will also be simultaneously making efforts to enhance the suburban Chennai’s green cover by focusing on 100 villages. However, no time limit has been fixed for this component.
CTC Ainthinai is happy to Collaborate  with ReGreen Chennai TO kick Off the first phase of Plantation in the heart of Chennai – YMCA Campus Nandanam. Native species of trees which have endurance to natural disasters and drought, namely Pungai Maram, Poovarasu, Vembu(Neem), Naaval(Jamun), Naagalingam, Panai Maram(Palm), Maa Maram(Mango), Nelli Maram(Amla) are to be planted.
